NaNoWriMo 2015 Winding Down

It’s the last eight days of NaNoWriMo 2015 Winding Down. This is where it all comes down to the final bit of pressure to finish up the month with 50k words or more to claim your “Winning Badge.”

This is my second year participating and I made myself a promise that I would win this year and I am going to do it.

Last year I was so nervous and I was afraid I would do something wrong, so I didn’t get very far. That was another time where, “I couldn’t get out of my own way.”  Read about NaNoWriMo 2014.

This year, I decided I would write short stories about some of the things I have been through in my life. Whether it becomes a published piece or not, I haven’t decided that yet but it’s a project I’ve wanted to work on for years.

NaNoWriMo_2015_Winding_Down-counterDeclaring myself a “rebel and a pantster” in NaNoWriMo 2015, I finally realized what was the difference between this year and last year. Silly me, thought I had to write the book from cover to cover. I wrote myself into a corner and couldn’t figure a way out. I didn’t know that I could have jumped around to different sections of my book to keep on working… “Live and Learn”

Okay, enough about my learning experience. I would like to now if you joined NaNoWriMo 2015 this year? Leave a comment below and tell me your thoughts on how you are doing.

I thought it would be kind of cool to show you the stats from my NaNo Dashboard. They really have it all set up for you to win. Just look at your stats each day and when it comes time to write and you are thinking, “Well, I’ve done pretty well so far, I’m not going to write today or tonight.”

NaNo is not necessarily about writing the perfect piece during the month of November, it’s about “doing the writing consistently” through the month of November so you will create a “habit of writing.”

It has been so exhilarating to write this year. I waited until the day before to decide if I was going to participate this year and I am so happy that I did.

C’mon, we want to hear your NaNo stories. Share them in the comments section and share this post if you found any value to it.

Remember, there is always another NaNaWriMo coming up every year in November. I hope to see you signed up next year.
