A Message About Love on Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day to one and all.
I was just sitting here this morning feeling sorry for myself since my husband is no longer with me (he passed away in August 2008) when I receive this email from Jonathan Budd.
I just had to share it with everyone. I wish each and every one of you a wonderful day, no matter what your circumstances are; alone or with that special someone. YOU can make a difference in the life of someone and in turn feel the “Love” that this day was intended for.
– From Jonathan Budd –
First off, I hope you’re having a wonderful day today and I’m sending you some extra “Loving” just so you know you ARE very loved.
You see, Love is actually a very important thing to me. (and just about every other human being I know) And I wanted to talk with you very briefly today and share a reminder that on this day when essentially we’re suppose to be celebrating love…
That we don’t FORGET what love is really about.
You see, the big media plays this day off like it’s this sweetie pie, romantic, intimate thing between two lovers…
And that it most definitely is.
Don’t get me wrong there… I’ve got some special plans for my partner and me too! But it’s actually a lot MORE than that. In fact, there’s a whole lot more to love then just having a romantic partner…
And it pains me sometimes to see the “Extent” of people’s love end at only the people they know and are familiar with in their lives.
You see… True Love, isn’t really about one person.
- True Love… has no definitions.
- True Love has no boundaries.
- True Love makes NO discrimination.
The hallmark of true love is that it’s UNCONDITIONAL…And exists NATURALLY without any expectation of return.
Think about how the SUN shines on our entire planet, day in and day out, giving us ALL LIFE and providing life for almost every single creature on our planet…
And it asks NOTHING in return, yet gives us so much. THAT is what I call unconditional love.
This my friend… is what we should be celebrating, and spreading on this joyous day.
Every great world wide spiritual teacher in the last few thousand years has been trying to teach us this message of unconditional love.
Yet as a society… we seldom want to listen because it’s HARD.
- It’s hard to LOVE your neighbor when their dog craps in your lawn over and over again.
- It’s hard to Love the DMV teller when you’re waiting in line and they treat you like another # because you’re the 848th person they’ve seen today…
- It’s hard to LOVE the guy or gal who breaks into your car to get your CD player because they’re that desperate…
Most of the times… we are trained to DISLIKE these people. We’re told it’s OK to think negatively of them at this point… and banish them to the “Unlovable” segments of our society.
However, when we do this…
- We are NOT coming from a place of unconditional love withing ourselves.
- When we do this… we are DENYING the very love we want for ourselves, from FORMING within us.
You see, most people think that “Getting Love” is the rewarding part…But they’re wrong.
They haven’t been paying close enough attention. LOVING is the rewarding part.
Being the one who LOVES is the part that is most fulfilling. Because that’s the part we feel from WITHIN.
When someone else loves us… of course it feels good. But that love is being generated from within them. Not us.
It’s only when WE LOVE that we generate it from within, and get to feel it’s effects all over our being. and THAT my friend… is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world.
So on this day when we’re suppose to be celebrating Love… I’d like to ask you to REMIND yourself of how you can be a more unconditionally loving person to everyone around you.
Remind yourself how YOU can be the one to put forth the “Extra” umphhh of love, without really needing anything in return.
I’d like you to challenge YOURSELF to be a more loving person in our world… Regardless if the people around you, or the world, reciprocates back what you “Think” it should. This is our essential challenge as aware, and personally Developed individuals in our modern society.
It’s not about what “Other” people do any more.
- It’s about what WE DO.
- It’s about what WE CONTRIBUTE.
A lot of times I hear people complaining about all the lack in their life… or everything they’re not getting from others.
Well, lets flip that equation on it’s head real quick and instead of wasting our energy on that story…
Let’s create a different one.
- If you feel lack in your life… Go out there and CONTRIBUTE something to someone else that you wish someone had done for you.
- If you feel a lack of love in your life… Go BE the Love for someone else, unconditionally, that you wish you had.
When we begin to live life in this way… dramatic shifts can happen in how we interact with our world. And from this place, we’re able to create a far more rewarding, more uplifted life.
So that’s all I wanted to say today. I hope you’re having a fantastic day no matter what you’re doing.
And remember… it’s LOVING that makes us feel the best. Not the other way around…
Think about ways you can love others and our world more… And you’ll be far more fulfilled then thinking about ways everyone and everything else can love you more.
Trust me…
Have an amazing day and keep your eyes peeled for another email from me tomorrow.
Yours In Life,
Jonathan Budd
I hope this was as uplifting and inspiring to you as it was for me. Again, Everyone have a great day sharing the “Love”.
