Working With WordPress – Tips, Ideas, Themes and Plugins
WordPress is by far the most popular blogging platform today. Almost every web hosting service will offer the free installation of WordPress for your blog.
There is a little bit of a learning curve to work with WordPress but not enough that you should avoid it completely. I did for quite a while. I just didn’t want to learn anything new. I am happy that I finally changed my mind. I love working with WordPress.
There are numerous themes (free and paid) that you can use for your site, as well as finding a plugin to use for just about anything you want to accomplish on your blog.
A word of “CAUTION”, looking for a WordPress Theme and plugins for your blog can also be a major time waste. Before you know it, you will have spent countless hours looking at themes and plugins.
One of the major things that you should be aware of when working with this platform; from time to time they will do some updates of the core files and it is “VERY IMPORTANT” that you wait at least seven (7) days before you do the update of your blog. Remember to always do a full backup of your files before doing the update.
NOTE: WordPress.org is standard blogging platform that most writers and marketers use. WordPress.com is a free site and there are limitations as to what you can use the site for and you do not have total control of your work on WordPress.com
