Does Thinking Too Much Hold You Back?

Do You Think Too Much Before Doing Anything?

Part of the reason for my hesitation in progressing in my online business is the fact that I “over-think”  EVERYTHING too much and end up not taking any action.  I come up with many, many ideas; I start them but never finish them or see them through to completion.  Do you see yourself in this situation?

I also believe that Google is partly to blame for this. :)   By that I mean, when I think I have finally come up with a good idea and I do some research on it, I find that maybe there is not enough interest in it; there is too much competition; someone else may know more about it than I do and I could go on and on with the excuses.  So the project sits and I move on to something else just because of “what other people might think”.

I’m Done With That… and you should be too.

I am gathering ALL of my projects (stuff) together here with links to them on my main blog; http://monnaellithorpe.com

There are many projects I have started because each one of them is a little bit of who I am.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, “I cannot define myself with just one niche”.  It’s time to stop over-analyzing, over-thinking, under-doing and under-achieving and just dive in and DO IT!

Are you with me?  The more we sit and think, the more time and opportunities pass us by.

*** Jumping at several small opportunities may get us there more quickly than waiting for one big one to come along.  ~Hugh Allen

I may be committing Google suicide but, do you know what?   I’m Just ME and this is who I am From Now On.  I am forging ahead with my passions, my dreams, my interests and my goals.  FINAL DECISION!

How many of you agree that this is what is holding you back?  It’s time to sit down, make a plan and DO IT…

In August of 2008, my husband passed away. I was lost without him, alone, afraid, angry and hated the world around me and everything in it.

From that day on, things continued to get worse.  I lost his retirement income due to a technicality.  I lost my job.  I had to move from my apartment we shared together.  I got another job but paying about half of what I was making previously, so as the months wore on, I became more and more in debt, depressed and cried all of the time.  Basically, for a month I cried and slept and surprisingly I did not lose my job but my car was repossessed and eventually I lost my new apartment and had to move in with friends.

Friends took me in as a temporary living situation and after a couple of months; I started to look for a room to rent in a house owned by a stranger.  I found a nice place, in a nice neighborhood to live…but…Let’s just say that if you find yourself having to live in a “roommate” situation, check them out thoroughly.  Don’t just assume everyone has the same values and lives their life as you do.

This brings me to the present day.  I am now living with my best friend’s mother who is 83 and also a widow.  She is very healthy and active considering her age but the family wanted someone to be with her to look out for her; perfect solution to her problem and mine.  She needed someone to be with her and I needed a place to live.

I have been here living in this beautiful villa in a gated community now for 4 months and while I still miss my husband dearly, I am doing well and starting to like life again.  I am helping someone else out who needs help.  She is helping me out.  I have a clean, safe and secure place to live.  Life is beginning to turn around and look good again.

My point to all of this is… even though I have gone through the most terrible time of my life and suffered through many hard times and setbacks in the months since the death of my husband, I do have many things to be thankful for, such as:

  1. I did find another job that I can still work from home.
  2. Even though I did not receive my husband’s retirement benefits, I do have his medical insurance which is at a great savings, compared to the prices some people are paying for health insurance or no health insurance at all.
  3. While living in a roommate situation and finding myself in a place “I never want to be again”, I came through it safely without any long term problems, other than the bad memory of it.
  4. I’m living with a lady who became like my second mother after my mother passed away, in a beautiful home and I “Drive Miss Mary” to her doctor appointments, grocery store, etc. when she needs to go and I have the use of her car to also do my own errands when needed.

Each day we ALL need to take a few minutes and search for what we have to be thankful for.  It may not be evident to you at that particular moment but it will come to you.  It may not exactly be the perfect answer you wanted or hoped for but it’s a matter of seeing the “glass half full or half empty”.

Just say to yourself:  I’M IN THIS PLACE AT THIS TIME FOR A REASON…

I’m In This Place At This Time For A Reason

For the last 2-1/2 years since my husband passed away I have struggled with trying to figure out who I am without him and where I belong.

TheWomenofFacebookThanks to some wonderful new friends I have made in the group formed by Nathalie Villeneuve called “The Women of Facebook”;   The women in this group have helped me to start fighting my way back to who I am and where I belong.  There are soooooo many who have had an influence and have made a difference in my life lately and I would love to name every one of them but unfortunately there are just too many wise and wonderful women to mention and I would not want to leave anyone out.  So to the Women of Facebook, I “salute you”.  Love you all.

So, if you are in need of inspiration, comfort, an “atta girl” and a kick in the rear when needed, then The Women of Facebook IS a group you surely want to check out.

I made a post on my Easy Double Wedding Ring Quilt E-Book blog a while back about a blind woman who quilts completely by touch and I felt so ashamed for feeling sorry for myself.

So in combination with all of the inspiration and motivation slapping me in the face lately and the rear-end kicks, I have decided I am just “ME”.  Take it or leave it.  I don’t mean to sound as if I have a superior attitude; far from it.  I have just come to a realization.

I CANNOT define myself with just one “niche” on the internet.  There are too many things I am interested in.  I’m tired of trying to be something I am not, to try and please “Google” or anyone else.

My blog will be going through many, many changes in the next few weeks.  From now on, I will write about what and how I believe I can HELP others and what interests me that day and if the next day brings another subject, then so be it.

Maybe you are in a time of your life where you are not so sure where you belong or how to get through tough times.   I am no expert, just someone who has been through a lot.  My trials and tribulations may be not be as bad as yours or maybe they are worse; who is to say but YOU how you feel and how you deal with what is facing you?

So if you would like to join me on this new LIFE journey I am taking, you are welcome to do so.  I am a good listener, although I may not have all the answers, I can be a sounding board if you don’t have anyone to talk to or need to talk to someone.

Please “retweet”, share and/or comment as I begin a New Life Journey in helping others as well as healing myself.

:)   No, I haven’t lost my mind.  I can hear it now, “But lady, you are already 53 years old, what do you mean when you grow up?”

I may be 53 years in chronological age but in mind and spirit I am still growing up and still trying to decide what I want to do with as a woman entrepreneur on the internet.

You see, 2 years and 5 months ago I became a widow.  Before that, I knew what I wanted to be and where my life was going.  I was happy with the man I dearly loved and we planned vacations, time together and growing old together.

That life and my soul was ripped away from me early one Sunday morning in August of 2008.  Since then my life has been spinning out of control ever since.  So it’s time now for me to buckle down and decide “What I Want to Be on the Internet When I Grow Up.”

I’ve worked on the internet doing various things since the year 2000, starting with eBay, affiliate marketing, MLMs (multi-level marketing), PLR sales (private label rights) and I could go on and on but I have never been quite able to decide on one specific thing to “stick with”.

I’m sure if any of you have entertained the idea of earning an income on the internet, you have gone through the same things; trying this, that and the other without really having any kind of direction or actually deciding on a specific niche or business plan.

What I would like to do with my blog from now on is to talk with people such as you, who are looking to have a successful internet business and discuss the different options that are available on the internet to earn money.

Let me know if you are in this “same boat” with so much going on in your head that you are not sure which way to turn.  Share with others what you have done and are doing.  Let others know if it is working or not?

Leave a comment and/or subscribe to my blog at the top right hand corner and receive a free “Action Planner” to get started with your organization.  And let’s see if we can work together to get rid of some of the confusion concerning blogs, SEO, article marketing, social media, videos, etc and start sorting it all out.  I know that “2 heads are better than 1”

I am adding a “Promote Yourself” section on the blog for you to promote “you” and your business.  Please use that and leave the main blog for helpful discussions for those who are in need of help and advice.

My business partner, Dave D. Williamson at DaveDWilliamson.com has lots and lots of “free” information that is very useful to anyone looking to “start an internet business”.

As time goes on, I will go over the different methods and tools available to you on the internet; most will be free, some not.  I cannot and will not tell you that one specific program, tool, method or system will work for you.  What I will provide to you is the knowledge and information so you can check them out.  Then and only then can YOU decide what will and will not work for you.

You can’t overestimate the need to plan and prepare. In most of the mistakes I’ve made,

there has been this common theme of inadequate planning beforehand.

You really can’t over-prepare in business! -Chris Corrigan
