We are now to the end of my series on Social Media Cross Posting and this week we will go through Pinterest.
What is Pinterest? Pinterest is a company that provides an Internet service that they describe as a visual discovery tool. People use Pinterest to collect ideas for projects and interests. Users create and share collections (called “boards”) of visual bookmarks (called “Pins”) that they use to do things like plan trips, develop projects, organize events or save articles and recipes. I admit I don’t use Pinterest very much and probably will find that I am overlooking a great source for advertising. I haven’t signed into my account in a while but I do share pictures of colleagues and friends on Pinterest.
The first thing I was greeted with when signing in was the question of whether or not I wanted to turn my account into a business account. I said, “No” but it does appear that I should change this and so should you if you are using Pinterest for sharing any kind of pictures and/or links that you would receive commission or payment for. At this time, there is no charge to sign up for a business account but it sounds as though that may change in the future. https://help.pinterest.com/en/articles/set-your-business-account
When I went to settings, I see that again I have allowed a few other sites to have control of my account by using them to sign in to Pinterest to save time (see picture below). In the picture you can see that I have signed in at times using my Facebook log in credentials, along with Twitter and Google+. A little further down Gmail and Yahoo are listed but I have not used either of them to sign in to Pinterest at any time. I have turned this off, so in the future I hope I remember NOT to use other social sites to sign into Pinterest for me.
Since Pinterest is not my area of expertise, I would like to introduce you to a friend of mine, Jacs Henderson; Jacs’s World of Pinterest.
She works a lot with Pinterest and will guide you through setting up your account or show you how to improve your existing account and profile.
I hope you were able to find some helpful information with my 6 Part Series of Social Media Cross Posting.
Which of the six social media sites will you be focusing on? Twitter – Facebook – YouTube – LinkedIn – Google+ – Pinterest; I would be interested to know what is your favorite to work with?
If you enjoyed this post and found it helpful to you, please comment and share on the social networks with everyone and let me know how I’m doing.
